Psychologist - Mental Health Clinic Director

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

VA Careers - Psychologist: https://youtube.com/embed/77qHlLw9Xck Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This Staff Psychologist position is a full-time position with primary duties in Outpatient General Mental Health - Durham (GMH-D). GMH-D is part of the Outpatient Mental Health Division in Mental and Behavioral Health Services (MBHS) within the Durham VA Health Care System (VAHCS). The incumbent has clinical responsibilities, in addition to administration and oversight of the clinic. The psychologist is responsible for the management of referrals to the clinic, oversees workload needs, fosters teamwork, and collaboration among the team. The psychologist also may provide supervision to Psychology practicum students, interns, and/or postdoctoral fellows who are completing training rotations in GMH-D. In terms of discipline-specific and other clinical practice issues, the psychologist directly reports to a designated supervisory psychologist within the Outpatient Mental Health Division for MBHS and ultimately, the Chief of Psychology (Durham VAHCS). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of, and ability to apply, professional psychological treatments or assessment methods to the full range of patient populations. Ability to design and implement effective treatment strategies. Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures. Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health. Knowledge of clinical research literature. Primary (Clinical) Responsibilities Provides a full range of specialized services at all levels of complexity in GMH-D. Service delivery to include screenings, intake evaluations, psychological diagnostic assessments, and psychotherapy. Provides evidenced-based psychotherapies in both individual and group formats. Provides consultation within the treatment team and other professionals staff across the Durham VAHCS. As relevant and as requested, may provide clinical supervision to Psychology students, interns or fellows (or unlicensed Psychology staff, as requested). Administrative Responsibilities Administratively tracks and manages clinic workload needs, overseas triage of consults, fosters teamwork, and identifies and implements methods to improveclinic efficiency. Conducts program evaluation to inform program development needs (e.g., specific staffing needs, workload equality, Veterans' clinical needs, etc.) Collaborates and serves as a liaison with other MBHS clinics, in addition to clinics across the Durham VAHCS, to coordinate and enhance patient mental health care. Responsible for ensuring clinic implementation of any specifically designated new VA policy/procedures (e.g., VOD implementation, same day access); is aware of and responsive to performance indicators such as SAIL. Collaborates with leaders within MBHS Outpatient Division as well as other clinic directors throughout MBHS to ensure efficient processes within clinic and high-quality collaboration across clinics. Academic/Teaching/Training May contribute to the didactic training series for Psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and staff. Professional development mentorship: May provide research &/or professional development mentorship to psychology interns and fellows. Research May engage in non-funded or VA funded research per approval of the supervising psychologist and Chief of Psychology. Other Significant Responsibilities With approval, may serve on Medical Center, VISN, and/or National VA??????? committees or task forces. May represent Psychology / Mental Health programs in various workgroups and committees at the Medical Center. May actively participate in leadership roles on local, state, and national professional organizations.
