Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Te Aho o Te Kahu was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
Ko tōu ake mahi – What You’ll Do
The public health physician will be located in the Knowledge Translation and Implementation team of Te Aho o Te Kahu and will be responsible for providing high-quality strategic and operational advice, leadership, coordination, critical analysis and recommendations across the work programme.
Your public health experience along with your exceptional communication and writing skills will be vital in providing clear, succinct, responsive and appropriate advice to your manager, the Chief Executive, Agency teams and external stakeholders.
You will support work within the Agency to deliver on the Government and Agency priorities
and objectives, building collaborative and positive relationships across the Agency, Ministry of Health, wider health sector, government and other external stakeholders, ensuring all work meets Treaty obligations and reflects our priority of equity.
Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You’ll Bring
A registered medical practitioner holding a current Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration as a specialist medical practitioner in a relevant speciality (FNZCPHM, FAFPHM, or similar).
Experience in screening or cancer sector is desirable
Knowledge and experience of machinery of government would be a benefit
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to write and talk about technical issues clearly
Ability to negotiate/communicate, influence and build trusted relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels
Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply its principles to day-to-day work
Ability to analyse complex technical information to provide advice to a wide range of audiences
