QA Automation Engineer - Release Quality (Remote, China)
BJAK is building AI-powered workflow systems for insurance operations, covering quotes, policy issuance, endorsements, claims, payments and customer follow-ups. These systems involve complex multi-step workflows where small defects can cause major operational and customer impact.
We're looking for a QA Automation Engineer based in China who focuses on release quality—ensuring every deployment is stable, validated and safe before it reaches production. This role is central to improving release confidence across BJAK’s AI automation platform.
This is a fully remote position where you'll collaborate closely with our Malaysia-based engineering, product and operations teams to strengthen release reliability and production stability.
The Mission
Ensure high release quality across BJAK’s AI workflow systems by building strong automated validation, regression coverage and release testing practices that prevent production issues before they happen.
What You’ll Own
Own and improve release validation and regression testing for production deployments.
Build and maintain automated test suites for web, API and workflow systems.
Design release test coverage for insurance workflows including quotes, policy issuance, endorsements, claims and payments.
Improve pre-release checks, smoke testing and production readiness validation.
Work closely with engineers to validate changes before deployment to production.
Identify critical edge cases, failure paths and risks in multi-step workflows.
Track, document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps and release impact analysis.
Support manual release testing when automation coverage is not sufficient.
Improve QA processes, release gates and overall deployment confidence.
Continuously reduce regression issues and production defects through better testing strategy.
What We're Looking For
Experience in QA automation, test engineering or software testing roles.
Strong focus on release testing, regression validation or production quality assurance.
Ability to build automated tests for real-world product and workflow systems.
Solid understanding of web, API and end-to-end testing approaches.
Strong attention to detail and ability to detect edge cases and release risks.
Clear communication when reporting bugs, risks and release concerns.
Experience working closely with engineers and product teams in fast-paced environments.
Strong ownership mindset for product quality and release stability.
Practical, disciplined and structured approach to QA work.
Comfortable operating in high-frequency release environments.
Bonus Points
Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar automation frameworks.
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured or similar.
Experience with CI/CD-integrated testing and release pipelines.
Experience testing workflow systems, fintech or insurance products.
Experience with smoke testing, regression testing or release engineering practices.
Understanding of distributed systems or event-driven workflows.
Experience improving release processes in scaling engineering teams.
Contributions to QA automation frameworks or release tooling.
Experience working in AI-driven or automation-heavy platforms.
The Kind of Builder We Want
Extremely detail-oriented and focused on release safety and correctness.
Thinks like both a user and a system validator across complex workflows.
Calm and structured when working under release deadlines.
Strong at identifying risks before they reach production.
Focused on preventing issues, not just detecting them.
Proactive in improving release processes and test coverage.
Builds confidence in every release through disciplined validation.
This Role Is Not For
People who only perform manual checklist testing without automation thinking.
Individuals who report bugs without clear reproduction steps or context.
Engineers who ignore release risk and focus only on feature testing.
People who miss edge cases in complex workflows.
Candidates who do not take ownership of release quality outcomes.
Success in This Role
You'll be successful if you can:
Improve release stability and reduce production defects significantly.
Strengthen regression coverage across critical insurance workflows.
Increase confidence in every production deployment.
Detect critical issues before production impact.
Improve overall release quality and QA maturity across teams.
