Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Test Automation Engineer with a strong focus on front-end automation testing to join our Quality Engineering team for the SmartPay platform. In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, and execute automated tests for web and API applications, driving quality and reliability. Experience with performance and back-end testing is a valuable asset. You will collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines and shift testing left.
Test Automation & Framework Ownership
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web and API testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and reporting.
• Build test suites across DevOps stages to ensure rapid feedback and continuous quality.
• Own and run existing JMeter scripts; maintain and expand coverage over time.
• Collaborate with the team to shift performance testing earlier in the lifecycle.

Collaboration & Mentorship
• Align automation strategy with wider quality objectives, working with the team.
• Partner with engineers to embed testing early in the SDLC.
• Collaborate on coding standards, test design, and automation best practices.
Essential technical skills
• Hands-on experience in UI automation (Cypress, or similar).
• Comprehensive grasp of OOP concepts and design patterns.
• Proficiency in programming languages (JavaScript or TypeScript or Python or similar).
• Experience with API testing (Postman or Bruno or similar) and SQL for data validation.
• Background in Agile and DevOps environments, with CI/CD and version control systems (Git).
• Hands on experience using containerization platforms (Docker).
• Familiarity with cloud (AWS) environments.
• Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter or similar).
• History of working with TCMS (BrowserStack products).

Collaboration & Problem-Solving & Communication
• Strong communication skills, able to work across engineering and product teams.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Technically confident, with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Nice to Have (but not essential)
• Willingness to learn and lead performance testing practices as they evolve.
• Working knowledge of non-functional quality: accessibility basics (WCAG), performance basics and security/privacy awareness in test data.
• Contract testing with Pact (or similar).
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for QA - using agents/models to generate/maintain tests and other activities.
