QC Inspector
Job Description:
- Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and project specifications to prepare inspection activities.
- Conduct inspections during installation, and testing of mechanical and electrical works.
- Ensure inspections are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, codes, and standards.
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment against purchase orders, certificates, and specifications.
- Verify traceability, dimensions, heat numbers, and physical condition before acceptance.
- Raise Material Receiving Reports (MRRs) and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) if needed.
- Perform dimensional checks, welding inspections, coating inspections, and functional tests as applicable.
- Witness hydrostatic, pneumatic, or electrical testing as required by ITPs.
- Record inspection results and obtain necessary approvals or sign-offs.
- Identify and document deviations from project requirements.
- Issue NCRs and follow up on corrective actions with contractors and supervisors.
- Verify closure of NCRs and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain inspection logs, test reports, and quality records in compliance with QA/QC procedures.
- Submit daily inspection reports and weekly status summaries to the QA/QC Manager.
- Ensure records are ready for client handover and audits.
- Coordinate inspection schedules with construction teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Liaise with third-party inspectors when required.
- Provide technical feedback to supervisors and engineers on quality-related issues.
- Ensure inspection activities are conducted safely and in line with HSE requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions encountered during inspections.
- Participate in toolbox talks and quality awareness sessions.
- Skilled in dimensional, welding, coating, electrical, and/or mechanical inspections depending on discipline.
Requirement
- 5–7 years of quality inspection experience in EPC, offshore, or oil & gas projects.
- Knowledge of international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ISO, BS EN, and project-specific requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and inspection test plans.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and project QA/QC processes.
- Experience with non-conformance handling, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Experience in fabrication yards, offshore installations, or heavy industrial construction is highly desirable.
- Ability to interface with client representatives and subcontractors.
- Strong reporting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and quality documentation systems.
- Familiarity with electronic document management (EDMS) and inspection record systems.
