Main Function
To build and maintain a culture of quality and safety standards at CB’s Distribution Centre (Freetown). The Quality Supervisor for the cold storage warehouse plays a critical role in ensuring that all CB Foods’ chilled and frozen products are stored and maintained, upholding industry standards and regulations.
Specific responsibilities include:
Quality Control Management:
- Develop, implement, and continually review quality control procedures to ensure the integrity of all chilled and frozen chicken and pork products.
- Conduct regular inspections of incoming and outgoing products to ensure compliance with specifications, hygiene standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor temperature, humidity, and storage conditions to prevent product deterioration and maintain product quality.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead a team of quality technicians and attendants, ensuring their proper training, performance, and adherence to quality protocols.
- Assign tasks, set objectives, and provide guidance to maintain an efficient and motivated quality control team.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including inspection results, corrective actions, and compliance reports which are to be shared daily + weekly with Distribution Manager and QMS manager.
- Generate and analyze quality performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate existing quality control processes and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly Sales + Distribution, to implement process improvements that optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations, guidelines, and standards related to frozen food storage and handling.
- Ensure that the warehouse operations comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations, such as SQF, HACCP and GMP guidelines.
Supplier and Customer Communication:
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to address quality concerns, discrepancies, or non-compliance issues related to incoming and outgoing products.
- Provide requisite information to resolve and close out customer complaints with all relevant parties, including but not limited to, Sales, Customer Care and other Quality members.
Crisis Management:
- Act swiftly and effectively to manage product recalls or quality emergencies, working closely with relevant departments to contain and resolve issues.
Training and Development:
- Provide training and to ensure that “Quality is Everyone’s Business”, to all employees at the facility.
- Coordinate with People + Culture and Quality Team to conduct regular training sessions to reinforce best practices and enhance the skills of the Freetown Distribution teams.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences/ Associate degree in Agriculture or equivalent qualification
- Completion of training in various Quality Management Systems including but not limited to ISO, HACCP, SQF, GMP
- Supervisory experience and certification
- Strong knowledge of QMS processes and procedures in food and agriculture
- An effective communicator with the ability to prepare and present data and reports
- Strong analytical skills
- Microsoft Office
