Quality Engineer - MFG

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in the planning, development, implementation, communication and maintenance of the company’s quality management systems, policies, documentation, data, and customer-specified requirements.
  2. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and making recommendations.
  3. Ensures products adhere to company and industry quality standards.
  4. Brainstorms ideas to create solutions for identified problems.
  5. Conducts internal audits and follow up activities, as necessary.
  6. Improves processes as necessary to ensure identification, traceability and control of the product and ensure that information is fully integrated into every process.
  7. Conducts root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action on a regular basis.
  8. Development of management system documents ranging from quality system procedures, inspection instructions, operator procedures and data forms.
  9. Coordination and performance of internal process/product audits and verifying all follow up activities are complete.
  10. Create, update, and utilize risk assessment tools (PFMEA) in order to improve processes.
  11. Provide quality leadership to the manufacturing and business teams to ensure customer and quality expectations are met.
  12. Lead in process improvement (develop, revise and procedures) activities.
  13. Maintain and update the quality management system as needed.
  14. Be familiar with applicable specifications for the quality management system, customer requirements and industry products (ISO 9001, ASTM, ASME).
  15. Ensure that corrective actions, non-conformance reports and customer complaints are completed in a timely manner.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
  2. Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be a hands-on type of person who also has the ability to teach.
  2. Ability to work with cross functional teams (Engineering, Plant Engineering, Production, and other functions when required) to help resolve quality issues.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills.
  4. Detail oriented and high organization skills.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  6. Self-Motivated and independent.
  7. Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  8. Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications
  9. Basic knowledge of operating measurement equipment
  10. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.

PPE REQUIRED

Safety glasses, ear protection, steel toed boots, and gloves when on the manufacturing floor.
