What to expect:
You will be part of a global inspection team assuring the quality of components and assemblies that this global aerospace leader is sourcing from one or more suppliers in this area. This is an ongoing full-time assignment representing the client’s quality interests at suppliers in the Southern California Region. Once on the team, you will be deployed through SQA’s operations center based on client needs and each supplier’s production schedule. Before deployment, you will undergo training, including a remote classroom session, Gage R&R training and testing, and three shadow inspections with an existing inspector on the team. The final day of training is a shadow inspection with the client.
What You'll Do:
Perform first-article, in-process, and final cable wire harness inspections at our client's supplier(s) in the greater OC/LA area
Verify that products meet quality requirements and specifications
Verify safety wire has been applied in a negative pull orientation, the correct number of turns, and pigtails are tucked in according to specification requirements
Verify shipping documentation is legible and includes correct identification (part number, serial number), configuration change letter, Purchase order line item/quantity/change letter, shipping destination, etc.
Verify documentation packages to industry/commodity-specific standards and classify defect types
Read and interpret standard manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards
Identify and record non-conformances found at the inspection
Checks work periodically and upon completion for accuracy
Works productively and efficiently so the production schedules of the company are met
Assures that all assembly equipment is properly maintained, and work area is neat and organized
What you’ll need:
Knowledge of cable and harness assembly methods.
Knowledge of IPC-A-620 Standards. IPC-A-620 certification is a plus
Minimum: Three (3) years of experience as a Cable and Harness Inspector/Assembler with increased responsibilities in an electronic contract manufacturing organization, electronic high tech, or related industry with equivalent experience
Preferred: Five (5) years of experience as a Cable and Harness Inspector/Assembler with increased responsibilities and two (2) years' experience as a Cable and Harness Inspector in an electronic contract manufacturing organization, electronic high-tech, or related industry with equivalent experience
Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school
College degree in engineering or other related area preferred
Knowledge of electronic contract manufacturing best practices. LEAN manufacturing knowledge a plus
Able to read electronic schematics and assembly drawings
Able to document COC (Certificate of Conformance)
Able to identify electronic wiring and harnessing components
Ability to use technology and adapt to new software
Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication ability
Able to speak, read, write, and understand English as it relates to performing job requirements
Due to the nature of the products, US Citizenship is also a requirement, and background checks are required
