Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to deploy and lead the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams, with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. Each day, you will drive the local quality system through the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. You will also showcase your expertise by coordinating the efforts of all necessary local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance and ensuring that the necessary certification requirements are met throughout the organization.

This role is contributing to the Motion business for High Power division based in Vadodara, India

You will be mainly accountable for:

Quality Strategy & Governance

Develop and execute the organization's long term quality vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives. Establish quality policies, standards, and governance frameworks across all business units.

Drive a culture of quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Business Alignment

Align quality objectives with organizational growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and sustainability goals. Support business expansion, new product launches, and market entry initiatives by ensuring robust quality systems. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making as a member of the leadership team.

Customer & Market Excellence

Define customer quality strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen brand reputation. Benchmark quality performance against industry best practices and competitors. Ensure customer requirements are translated into operational quality standards.

Risk Management & Compliance

Establish enterprise-wide quality risk management frameworks. Anticipate and mitigate quality, regulatory, and business continuity risks. Ensure compliance with global standards, customer requirements, and statutory regulations.

Operational Excellence

Lead transformation initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Digital Quality, and Industry 4.0 methodologies. Drive reduction in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), defects, warranty claims, and customer complaints. Improve process capability, productivity, and overall business performance.

Quality Performance Management

Define quality KPIs and dashboards for executive review. Monitor quality trends and use analytics to support strategic decision-making. Ensure achievement of annual quality objectives and business targets.

Supplier & Supply Chain Quality Strategy

Develop supplier quality management strategies to ensure robust and reliable supply chains. Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers to drive continuous improvement and risk reduction.

Organizational Capability Development

Build leadership capability within the quality function. Develop succession plans and talent pipelines for critical quality positions. Promote a learning culture focused on innovation, quality excellence, and problem-solving.

Innovation & Digital Transformation

Champion adoption of advanced quality tools, automation, and digital quality systems. Lead quality transformation projects to improve efficiency, traceability, and customer experience.


Qualifications for the role
  • Full time B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical/ Electrical
  • 15 to 18 years of experience in similar field.
  • Manages relationships with stakeholders in their own area of responsibility and ensures alignment.
  • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams in scope.
  • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance.
