What you’ll do

The General Assembly Quality Supervisor supervises a team of Quality members responsible for ensuring vehicles produced at Scout Motors, Inc. meets the defined quality standards throughout the assembly process. This role focuses on defect prevention, early detection, root cause analysis, process compliance and customer readiness. The Supervisor collaborates with Production, Engineering, Logistics and other teams to eliminate defects, improve processes, and ensure consistent build quality.

Supervise Operational Activities:

  • Supervise Quality teams in multiple areas of the General Assembly Shop.
  • Manage KPI results and lead corrective action initiatives to maintain optimal output.
  • Create training and development plans for hourly and salary Quality Members
  • Support initial builds, vehicle launches and production ramp-ups to ensure quality targets are met from Pre-series to SOP.

Process and Product Quality Control:

  • Support regular process audits to ensure compliance with quality standards, including VDA requirements and procedures.
  • Evaluate adherence to standard operating procedures and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Create action plans based on KPI and Audit results.

Writing and Maintaining standards:

  • Create and maintain documented standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to improve standards

Defects Detection and Escalation:

  • Manage identification and documentation of defects.
  • Ensure escalation of focus issues per internal guidelines.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure issues are resolved with speed and accuracy.
  • Participate in and lead Shopfloor Management meetings to drive resolution of outstanding topics.

Training and Support:

  • Support initial builds, vehicle launches, and production ramp-ups to ensure quality targets are met in pre-series and series operations
  • Lead and provide training and guidance to general assembly staff on quality standards and techniques, including VDA requirements.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and programs related to General Assembly Quality.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Management, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience of:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and quality control concepts or a related field, including hands-on experience in a supervisory role.
  • Greenfield or Brownfield Automotive facility launch experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive processes, products, and materials, including familiarity with assembly tools, regulatory compliance, equipment, and best practices in the general assembly processes.
  • Experience with VDA standards and their application in the automotive industry.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • In depth understanding of DMAIC methodologies and the ability to utilize them
  • Excellent writing skills for developing clear and comprehensive quality standards and procedures.
  • Data driven and evidence-based mindset.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Quality Management software.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred.
  • Ability to perform duties that may require standing, walking, bending, or lifting.
  • Work in a general assembly shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ability to solve problems in General Assembly, and other areas in the plant.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
