Position Overview

Position Objective:

Help ensure hard surface product quality through testing, inspection, verification and effective communication of findings. Maintaining an effective system whereby resolution to quality problems and customer complaints is focused on identification and removal of root cause. This position reports to the Corporate Quality Q.C. Manager.

Shift: 6:45 am - 2:45 pm

Essential Duties:

  • (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility):
  • Be able to prioritize workloads from multiple areas in a fast paced environment. Aid TMs and Sales Reps to resolve quality issues.
  • Initiate vendor claims for defective material.
  • Work with Brand Managers, Corporate Sourcing and Q.C. Manager on specific product, special projects and problems that are quality related.
  • Do quality checks for customer service on order replacements and customer complaints.
  • Occasionally, inspect returned material or samples from claims and assist in making decisions relative to disposition.
  • Maintain effective system for keeping master samples accurate and updated. Assist the Q.C. Manager in keeping the department operating efficiently. Maintain system for locating acceptable “matches” to product sent in by TMs, dealers and consumers for order fulfillment.
  • Help maintain a system for identifying and reporting the material on Q.C. hold and ensuring that the material is effectively managed to preclude inadvertent shipment.
  • Be able to make decisions, solve problems and communicate well with others. Attendance is an essential function of the job. Must comply with corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy.
  • Must be able to travel to outlying production facilities and distribution centers. Assist with claims review at Plant 26 as needed.
  • Reviewing and Shipping material for Plant 2P as directed by Corporate Quality Manager.

Non-Essential Duties:

Do any troubleshooting necessary to keep department active and effective. Housekeeping.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk up to eight (8) hours a day.
  • Must be able to bend and stretch approximately 25 times a day. Must be capable of lifting, stacking or moving cartons of floor covering and associated items weighing approximately 85 pounds each.
  • Must be able to see small numbers and letters as displayed by the computer screen.
  • Must meet vision requirements as tested by company nurse.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be able to do all jobs in the departments. Must be able to use a computer.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • High School diploma or GED is desirable.

Training Requirements:

  • Must complete on the job training.
  • Must complete any other job, safety, or quality related training as needed.
  • Must complete LTO training program.

Tools, Equipment, and Material Requirements:

Computer Telephone Access and extensive knowledge of Invar and Glink Various preprinted forms and office supplies. Ink pen.

Safety and Security Requirements:

Observe all cooperate and plant safety rules, and procedures. Use caution when walking throughout the warehouse - beware of lift truck traffic. Report all safety incidents and hazards immediately.
