Quantitative Developer – Global Capital Markets

We are looking for self-motivated individuals with strong technical and quantitative skills to join our Global Capital Markets (GCM) division and help build our growing presence in Budapest.

In the GCM division, we offer global expertise in market analysis and in advisory and capital-raising services for corporations, institutions, and governments. Our Strategists provide quantitative analysis, data-driven insights, and customized tools to deliver bespoke solutions to stakeholders.

The successful candidate would work alongside the IT team, other Strats, and Senior Management in New York. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with combined technical/quantitative skills to identify and develop productivity, data insights, and risk reduction solutions for GCM globally.

This is a highly dynamic role with global impact across the Global Capital Markets. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to key data initiatives within Morgan Stanley’s GCM Division and the broader Institutional Securities Group.

Role responsibilities

  • Partner with GCM Stakeholders, Strategists and Controllers globally to develop metrics that provide actionable business insights and automate processes to improve productivity.
  • Engineer reporting solutions, including setting up data feeds, optimizing data storage, and implementing metric calculations.
  • Design, build, and support business-facing tools and analytics solutions, including applications supporting client targeting, management reporting, and automated content generation.
  • Design and build a secure and efficient system architecture.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering or Finance/Economics) with software development experience.
  • At least 3-4 years relevant experience in a programming or quantitative role.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one general purpose programming language (including but not limited to Python, C++, Java, JavaScript). Experience with distributed computing environments.
  • Knowledge of system design patterns and experience in system architecture.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or other LLMs).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, ability to build a network of trusted partners in a global organization and collaborate across all seniority levels.
  • Strong time management skills, with ability to work on simultaneous items across multiple stakeholders with short lead times.
