The opportunity

Identification, exploration and implementation of technology / product development and growth strategies to enhance and secure global positioning. Ensure project execution, foster innovation and develop and secure R&D capabilities in the business for profitability.
Devising research methods, focus on future technical direction, future scenarios in transforming technology landscape. Preparing technical specifications and specifying laboratory test equipment and processes. Making recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials within budgets and targets set. May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. Coordinating pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes. A Team Leader (M2) supervises professional level employees (typically entry or experienced level) and may also supervise some para-professional employees. Responsibilities typically include: Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex. Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.

How you'll make an impact

  • Manage and develop the R&D team and foster a culture of quality, collaboration, and openness while coaching and developing your direct and indirect reports
  • Oversee research and development projects related to HV capacitors, ensuring timely, on-budget, and on-scope delivery
  • Secure resources, competencies, and tools while adhering to R&D processes, technical standards, and instructions
  • Take accountability for HSE aspects within the team and infrastructure, including managing roles and responsibilities, governance, PPE, training, and certifications
  • Build relationships with other teams and research units and connect externally with universities, research institutes, and other relevant entities
  • Manage cost center and ensure local spending aligns with budget allocation and provide accurate and timely monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Uphold the core values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for your actions and caring for colleagues and the business

Your background

  • Master degree (or higher) in electrical engineering or related field such as physics or material science
  • 4+ years of experience in technology, engineering, or research
  • Knowhow in high voltage and capacitor technology is beneficial
  • Experience in people management and/or coaching is a plus
  • Profound knowledge in R&D project management and use of R&D processes and tools
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines under pressure
