Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated CDL-A professional to join a specialized field operations team supporting rail infrastructure projects, emergency response activities, equipment transport, and track-related services throughout the region.

This position combines commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and hands-on field support. Team members assist with transportation logistics, maintenance activities, recovery operations, construction support, and equipment setup while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Schedule & Compensation

Work Schedule

  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • Regular overtime opportunities averaging 60+ hours weekly
  • On-call availability required for emergency response situations
  • Weekend and holiday work may be required
  • Pay & Additional Earnings

    • Starting wage of $26.00 per hour or higher depending on qualifications
    • Overtime paid at $39.00 per hour (1.5x base rate) for hours worked outside Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
    • Per diem provided for qualifying travel assignments
    • Hotel accommodations covered during overnight travel
    • Layover compensation available when applicable

Primary Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics

  • Perform required inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment before and after operation
  • Safely transport machinery, materials, and support equipment to and from project locations
  • Verify load securement, transportation permits, and compliance requirements for oversized or overweight loads
  • Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and securing equipment for field operations
  • Rail & Field Operations Support

    • Participate in daily work planning discussions and safety meetings
    • Support track maintenance, repair activities, rail recovery operations, load transfers, and construction projects
    • Prepare work areas and materials needed for field assignments
    • Assist with jobsite cleanup and project closeout activities
    • Equipment Operation

      • Assist with crane setup, inspections, and operational support
      • Support rigging activities involving chains, cables, lifting systems, and winches
      • Operate heavy equipment when qualified, including:
        • Excavators
        • Backhoes
        • Cranes
        • Grapple trucks
        • Dump trucks
        • Skid steers
        • Additional construction and rail-support equipment
        • Perform work safely while maintaining awareness of surrounding personnel and equipment
        • Equipment Maintenance

          • Monitor equipment condition and operational performance
          • Complete and document minor maintenance and service activities
          • Report significant mechanical concerns to supervisors for repair
          • Assist with equipment breakdown, loading, and transportation at project completion
          • Restock tools, supplies, and replacement parts as needed
          • General Responsibilities

          • Utilize hydraulic equipment, welding tools, cutting torches, electrical tools, and hand tools safely and effectively
          • Maintain clean and organized vehicles, equipment, and workspaces
          • Support additional operational teams when business needs require
          • Adhere to all company safety programs, policies, and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
  • Good driving history and ability to meet company driving standards
  • Experience in construction, industrial labor, transportation, or other physically demanding work environments
  • Ability to successfully complete required qualification, safety, and training programs
  • Availability to respond to emergency service requests 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Preferred Experience

  • Three or more years operating heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, rail-bound equipment, tractors, or skid steers
  • Previous experience supporting railroad operations, track maintenance, infrastructure construction, or recovery projects
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment safety practices and field operations
