Raw Materials Supervisor

The Raw Materials Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Raw Materials department, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials from receipt through production consumption. This position oversees inventory accuracy, material availability, warehouse personnel, and compliance with company policies while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Raw Materials Supervisor partners closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, Planning (PMC), Logistics, and third-party warehouse providers to maintain inventory integrity, prevent production disruptions, and achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, coach, and develop the Raw Materials team to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations.
· Oversee the receiving, storage, issuance, and inventory control of all raw materials to support production requirements.
· Ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely within WMS, MES, and ERP systems.
· Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Procurement and PMC to prevent shortages while maintaining target inventory levels.
· Manage daily material staging and issuance to production while ensuring First Expired, First Out (FEFO) and inventory control standards are followed.
· Oversee cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities to maintain high inventory accuracy.
· Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Partner with Quality to manage material holds, nonconforming inventory, and disposition activities while minimizing operational impact.
· Collaborate with Compliance Specialists to validate inventory at external warehouse locations and ensure third-party logistics providers maintain inventory accuracy.
· Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for raw material handling, storage, and inventory management.
· Monitor warehouse performance metrics, including inventory accuracy, material availability, receiving performance, and production support.
· Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and annual inventory activities, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory control, warehouse efficiency, and process standardization.
· Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Support cross-functional projects involving Warehouse, Procurement, Quality, Production, Engineering, and Logistics.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Warehouse Operations Manager.
Leadership Responsibilities
· Supervise, schedule, and develop Raw Materials Specialists and Warehouse personnel assigned to the department.
· Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as needed.
· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
· Identify training needs and ensure team members receive appropriate instruction on warehouse processes, systems, and safety procedures.
· Manage staffing levels and daily workload assignments to meet operational requirements.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of warehouse or inventory management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
· Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, material flow, and production support.
· Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, MES, and Microsoft Office Suite. Oracle experience is preferred.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational improvements.
· Experience working with third-party logistics providers and external warehouse operations is preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform warehouse activities for extended periods.
· Comfortable working in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
· Ability to safely operate or become certified on powered industrial equipment as required.
