JOB DESCRIPTION:
Be a core member of the team that develops and evaluates new and existing thermoset technologies for Andersen’s extensive portfolio of products. In this role, you will lead research and development efforts involving reinforced thermoset materials and pultrusion processes, supporting improvements in product performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability. Success in the role involves a scientific, data-driven approach to evaluate thermoset and pultrusion materials and processes to generate insights and make recommendations to support technical decisions. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, manufacturing sites, and suppliers, along with up to 25% travel to support trials and project execution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a process engineer in the RD&I Thermoset group specializing in the pultrusion process of reinforced thermoset materials. Lead and execute cross-functional R&D projects, from concept through scale-up, addressing technically complex challenges. Apply a science and data-driven approach to solve technical problems with practical solutions. Design and execute test plans, along with writing technical reports and specifications to capture analysis and officiate findings of resulting work. Develop and present technical recommendations and report outs to technical peer group and management audiences to drive decisions with team members and cross-functional partners Leverage and develop tools and test methods for the evaluation and performance of thermoset reinforced materials and processes (i.e., microscopy, thermal/mechanical testing, viscosity/rheology, etc). Plan and lead process trials on production pultrusion equipment by collaborating with on-site partners. Expected travel to operation pultrusion sites to lead and oversee project work. Up to 25% travel.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Chemical, Materials Science, or similar Engineering degree with 1-5 years working experience preferred
Cross-functional project management experience with preference to material and/or process development
Self-motivated with a strong technical curiosity and ability to handle ambiguity
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to be hands on
Excellent oral and written technical communication skills
Demonstrates strong scientific and data-driven approach to problem solving
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in polymer material testing and/or pultrusion processing
Proficiency in statistical analysis (using tools such as Design of Experiments, Process Capability Analysis, Gage R&R) along with statistical software
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
Experience working through gated project review processes and manufacturing environments
PAY RANGE:
$78,824.00 - $122,176.00

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
