Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Real Time Payments Analyst supports U.S. Bank’s 24x7x365 Immediate Payments operating environment. This role is responsible for monitoring, researching, reconciling, documenting, and escalating activity related to Real-Time Payments (RTP) and FedNow, primarily during weekends, holidays, and other non-standard business hours. The analyst ensures timely and accurate payment processing while supporting operational risk management and service continuity across business-critical payment platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors Immediate Payments systems, queues, alerts, dashboards, and transaction activity to verify expected processing and identify issues.

  • Performs scheduled system checks, including transaction status reviews, exception monitoring, network validation, and operational readiness checks.

  • Investigates and triages operational exceptions, payment delays or failures, and system alerts.

  • Escalates issues to appropriate stakeholders (technology, operations, product, risk, compliance, vendors, and networks) in line with established procedures.

  • Supports production validation activities, including maintenance windows, system releases, upgrades, and resiliency events.

  • Researches and resolves payment exceptions such as rejected, pending, incomplete, or duplicate transactions.

  • Performs reconciliation and balancing activities, including general ledger review, offset validation, and settlement verification.

  • Responds to operational inquiries via shared mailboxes, case systems, and escalation channels.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of system activity, incidents, and resolutions to support audit and compliance requirements.

  • Identifies recurring issues and process gaps, recommending improvements to enhance reliability, customer experience, and risk management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Five to eight years of experience in payment operations, financial services, or a related business function

  • Strong knowledge of payment processing, reconciliation, exception handling, and operational controls

  • Familiarity with Immediate Payments frameworks, including RTP and FedNow environments

  • Ability to work independently during weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with real-time payment operations and settlement processes

  • Understanding of regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements within financial services

  • Experience documenting incidents, procedures, and operational controls

Work Environment and Risk

This role requires a high level of attention to detail, timely decision-making, and adherence to established procedures. The analyst is responsible for appropriately escalating issues that may impact customer experience, financial exposure, regulatory obligations, or U.S. Bank’s reputation. Accurate documentation and compliance with policies, standards, and procedures are essential.

Shift Pattern :

Saturday to Wednesday- 3PM – 11PM CET.

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
