Recon Inspector / A-Level Automotive Technician

We are seeking an experienced Recon Inspector / A-Level Automotive Technician to join our Buy Here Pay Here dealership team. This is a critical role responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and evaluating incoming inventory to ensure vehicles meet our quality, safety, and reliability standards before entering our retail inventory.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician with advanced diagnostic abilities, strong mechanical knowledge, and the experience to accurately identify vehicle needs while helping control reconditioning costs.




What does a Recon Inspector / A-Level Automotive Technician Do?

  • Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections on incoming inventory.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, suspension, brake, and engine-related concerns.
  • Create detailed reconditioning estimates and repair recommendations.
  • Determine safety-related issues and prioritize necessary repairs.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
  • Verify repair quality and ensure vehicles meet dealership standards before sale.
  • Collaborate with service advisors, technicians, and management regarding repair decisions.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports and documentation.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with state safety and emissions requirements.
  • Assist with quality control inspections after repairs are completed.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of automotive repair experience.
  • Must possess A-Level Technician skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems and diagnostic procedures.
  • Experience using OEM and aftermarket scan tools.
  • ASE Certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound repair recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.



Preferred Experience

  • Buy Here Pay Here dealership experience.
  • Used vehicle reconditioning and inventory inspection experience.
  • Experience with domestic, import, european and light-duty truck diagnostics.
