Recreation Assistant

Position Title: Recreation Assistant

Schedule: 32 hours/week, Work Schedule: Sunday-Wednesday, Work Hours: 9am-5:30pm

Pay: $17.50-20.00/hour, depending on education/licensure level and employment experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating and implementing calendar activities based on the resident population interests. These activities will be designed to meet their physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Responsible for creating opportunities for daily 1:1 visits with all residents to invite and inform of activities, conversation, support, etc.
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation of the resident’s attendance and participation level
  • Distribute and post material regarding events, programs, activities, etc.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting recreation space for residents, families, and staff
  • Communicate with Director of Therapeutic Recreation for supply, program, and resident need
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic recreation interventions for residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Therapeutic Recreation

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with seniors or in a health care setting preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to anticipate resident needs are qualities for success in this position.
