RECREATION ASSISTANT
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 45 Force Support Squadron, Outdoor Recreation. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week. Must be able to life and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
Announcement will close once position is filled. Performs tasks and assists in the operation and maintenance of a variety of recreations facilities and equipment. Tests boating equipment for safe condition and operation; may perform minor preventative maintenance on boat motors (i.e. change oil/filter, fill gas tank) and other boating equipment. Leads small groups in demonstrating and teaching a wide array of recreational activities such as boating, water skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping, biking, and fishing. Serves as a group leader on Outdoor Adventure Trips as determined by the Leisure and Recreation Program Supervisor. Provides resource information and rules on outdoor activities such as fishing, diving, surfing, boating, and camping. Demonstrates the safe and proper usage techniques for all rental and loan equipment. Visually inspects condition of rented equipment both at check-in and check-out, assess charges for damaged equipment and prepares damage reports as required. Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment rental and loan items. Schedules reservations for pavilions and recreational lodging units. Handles all transactions relating to the rental or reservation of the facility. Answers telephone calls and receives visitors, suppling requested information from own knowledge or referring caller to the appropriate source. Demonstrates and sells retail merchandise directly to customers. Completes sales or rental documentation and performs the full range of cash management and accountability duties that may include analyzing and correcting computer data reports. Operates RecTrac computerized point of sale system. Decorates and arranges display area and develops proposals for merchandise and informs supervisor regarding product sales, rentals, and loans. Assists with inventories as required. Uses a variety of computer software to complete forms, reports, and other documentation. Processes NAF journal vouchers, cashier reports, and other forms, and resolves errors thereon. Requisitions merchandise, maintains stock levels, coordinates special orders. Ensures proper display, price marking, and sales of merchandise. Acts as a shift leader in the absence of a manager/supervisor. May train lower graded personnel in different job aspects, initiates work process, and ensures proper completion of assigned work. May be required to drive government vehicles.
