Referral Management Clerk | Healthcare Administration (CLR)
You'll support specialty care referrals, review coordination, beneficiary counseling, referral tracking, and patient communication in Tampa, Florida. This role is designed for someone who can manage details, deadlines, and healthcare documentation without losing sight of the patient experience.
You'll coordinate specialty referrals, communicate with patients and providers, and support accurate referral management across multiple healthcare systems while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, track, manage, and close specialty care referrals, including referral review and routing activities, within required timeliness standards.
- Review referral documentation for administrative completeness, verify patient registration, and update demographic information in medical systems.
- Schedule specialty referral appointments, document patient appointments, provide patient education and pre-appointment instructions, and coordinate referral-related communications.
- Submit referrals for medical necessity review when required and route referral-related communications requiring clinical review to the appropriate provider or care team.
- Coordinate with specialty clinics, internal staff, providers, outside providers, and ancillary healthcare workers to support referral completion.
- Scan/import CLRs into the correct medical record and prepare referral management data reports using tracking tools.
- Advise patients on referral eligibility, beneficiary status, TRICARE/DEERS-related options, and patient travel coordination resources.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- BLS required.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience required.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA required.
- General office administrative and clerical skills required, including receptionist duties, telephone support, written/verbal/electronic communication, and Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized, and communicate professionally with patients and MTF staff required.
Preferred
- 2 years within the past 3 years of healthcare administrative experience in an inpatient or outpatient care setting highly preferred.
- ICD-9 coding and TRICARE benefits knowledge highly preferred.
