Pay Range:

The base pay range for this position is

$42.43-$83.95 Hourly

however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Surgical Services

Work Schedule for this Position: Shift will be 1030-1900, 5 days a week. No call with the exception of 1 Holiday a year.

Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Services is a professional perioperative nurse responsible for the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of patient care throughout the perioperative continuum. The RN provides safe, evidence-based nursing care consistent with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Washington, hospital policies and procedures, and accepted standards of perioperative nursing practice.

The Surgical Services RN functions as a patient advocate and collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, sterile processing personnel, vendors, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient surgical care. Demonstrates performance consistent with Pullman Regional Hospital’s mission, vision, values, relationship-based care principles, philosophy of care, departmental goals, and high reliability practices.

The Surgical Services RN is expected to function in both circulating and scrub roles following departmental competency validation and in accordance with operational needs.

A Day in the Life:

  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care throughout the perioperative experience.
  • Utilizes evidence-based and research-based nursing practice to develop and individualize patient care plans.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and professional stewardship in establishing patient care priorities.
  • Provides nursing care in accordance with accepted perioperative standards, hospital policies and procedures, and professional scope of practice.
  • Serves as a patient advocate throughout the perioperative process.
  • Functions in both circulating and scrub roles following competency validation and departmental expectations.
  • Coordinates and manages patient care during operative and invasive procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains the operating room environment to support safe and efficient patient care.
  • Performs and supports patient identification, surgical site verification, and procedural verification processes.
  • Participates in and documents surgical time-out and procedural safety processes.
  • Maintains aseptic and sterile technique throughout surgical procedures.
  • Performs scrub responsibilities including preparation and maintenance of the sterile field, instrumentation management, and anticipation of procedural needs.
  • Assists with room setup, equipment preparation, positioning devices, and case readiness.
  • Assesses and protects patient safety related to positioning, pressure injury prevention, and skin integrity.

About You!

This Job is For You if You Have:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with 2 or more years of experience.
  • Current active Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington or an active multistate compact Registered Nurse license recognized by the State of Washington.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrates competency in perioperative nursing practice and required technical skills for Surgical Services.
  • Demonstrates competency in circulating and scrub responsibilities as validated by department standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn, apply, and individualize patient care skills and safely operate new equipment and technology.
  • Demonstrates effective prioritization, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function effectively in high-acuity and rapidly changing clinical environments.

A Wow if You Have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR).
  • First Assist certification or perioperative specialty certifications as applicable.
  • Previous perioperative or surgical services nursing experience.
