Registered Nurse - Domiciliary Mental Health

The domiciliary RN attends and observes nurse-led psychoeducational groups, uses therapeutic communication techniques, practices de-escalation techniques, utilizes recovery-oriented language, and provides oversight of the patient safe medication management program. Duties include but are not limited to: Participating in shift report and warm hand-off. Identifying and reporting psychiatric and medical care needs and emergencies as directed. Identifying safety concerns and hazardous items to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment of care. Documenting nursing assessments. risk screens, nursing plan of care, patient safety rounds, and environmental of care rounds in accordance with facility policy. Maintaining professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities, and acting in the best interest of the patient. Establishing a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. Engaging patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 3:30PM to 12:00AM OR Friday through Tuesday, 3:30PM to 12:00 AM Telework: Not Authorized.
