Registered Nurse, Full Time, Days, Bed Management, Atlantic Health Clinical Operations Center

Assures that systems are in place to ensure appropriate resources and competent team. Directs department operations on a continuous basis and advises management on operational and functional improvement opportunities. Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control capacity bottlenecks, as well as enhance capacity availability across the system and/or in the particular hospital. Ensures the team and leadership are aware of capacity situation. Coordinates with PTC to optimize available beds across the system.

Anticipates potential problem situations and intervenes to offset any adverse impact on the facility/unit and/or clinical operations. Recognizes emergent maintenance requirements and delegates the communications to the needs at the facilities level.

Provides delegation for the prioritization of the discharging of patients during the hours of dispatch. Delegates Coordination between Beds and Dispatch to prioritize stat bed cleaning/transport requests based on bed request priorities. Fosters exceptional public relations for the team and organization across all sites; interacts with the administrator at the site as appropriate. Demonstrates the ability and delegates collaboration with the appropriate site specific administrative /clinical leadership to prioritize patient placement based on patient acuity and bed availability

Ability to provide administrative support to Clinical Operations Dept. Conduct site-based bed rounds during high census, surge, and emergency/PACU boarders, contribute to the patient flow initiatives, assure beds are being identified in a timely fashion and patients placed appropriately according to the 15-minute bed placement rule. Delegates and monitors telephone etiquette and ensures calls are answered in a courteous manner; receives and communicates messages in a timely matter and can prioritize needs. Ability to act as a liaison for AHS sites and callers. Interacts with team members, coordinates dept Huddles and manages customers in a polite and timely manner. Reports to the Nurse Manager for Clinical Operations and escalates concerns or issues at the sites or within the team.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required

Bachelors’ Degree and Masters Degree of Nursing preferred

All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date

License & Certifications:

Current NJ (New Jersey) Registered Nurse License required

Basic Life Support required

Experience:

4+ years of experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care Nursing and/or relevant area.
