The Hybrid Lab RN is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Hybrid Lab. Duties include but are not limited to the patient assessment, administration of medications, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, circulating and scrubbing during Hybrid procedures. Able to demonstrate progressive learning of Hybrid procedures. This position also assists in pre and post patient assessment and patient care, patient and family teaching, circulating, hemodynamic monitoring, and may scrub as needed during invasive procedures. This individual is able to demonstrate clinical knowledge in working with Hybrid Room patients during invasive interventional hybrid procedures.
Additional responsibilities include Scrub Nurse Role: Maintains the integrity of the sterile field; selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the procedure, anticipates and assists physician as needed. Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge and skill of the moderate sedation process. Performs an in-depth cardiovascular and sedation assessment in accordance with current VHMC policies. Is able to maintain consistent level of moderate sedation in conjunction with procedure performed and individual patient’s clinical state. Initiates additional patient comfort measures/alternatives for sedation, as appropriate. Assures that informed consent has been obtained on the patient and that all questions and concerns have been answered to the patient's satisfaction. Inventories all countable items both pre- and post-surgery to ensure none remain in the patient post-operatively. Staff will also float to OR and Invasive areas as needed.
A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned. The RN is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit specific competencies that are identified by the Director/Designee as it relates to the patient population of their unit as well as completion of the Professional Practice Ladder requirements which include: Assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity and department initiatives, communicates and shares information to Director/Designee and co-workers from unit or hospital committee, a Valley Health paid Education, Seminar/Conference, workshop or Nursing Article. Portfolio is current and submitted to Director/Designee annually by March 1st. Must be on a committee and provide validation of participation. Routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for unit and develops bulletin board or poster that provides educational Information to staff/patients/family members.
Education
Associates degree in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN, or ADN) is required.
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Certification & Licensure
RN licensure is required. Based on primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations, must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a: Multi-state license, under the Nurse Licensure Compact OR Single-state license, valid in Virginia only.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved is required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Relevant specialty certification is preferred.
Qualifications
Competent in providing care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
Competent to provide care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
Must have a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
If an RNA beginning employment as an RN I or promoting to an RN I from any VH position, must secure: Eligibility to Test Letter (or interim phone primary source verification and documentation of same by VH Nurse Recruitment, while awaiting letter to come in the mail) from the Virginia Board of Nursing if a Virginia resident or non-Compact state resident. (If resides in a Compact state other than Virginia, cannot commence employment as an RNA; must first secure home state’s Compact license with multi-state privileges and may then commence RN employment as an RN I.).
