Registered Nurse- Per-Diem Days 7 AM - 7 PM, Oncology Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
The Per Diem Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high‑quality nursing care to patients with cancer and other complex medical conditions. This role involves assessment, monitoring, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and close collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. The PD RN ensures safe, compassionate, and compliant care while supporting optimal patient outcomes.

- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient healthcare records and clinical reports
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patients for side effects, adverse reactions, and therapeutic effectiveness
- Prescribe and coordinate assistive medical devices and related supportive treatments in accordance with scope of practice
- Monitor, assess, document, and report patient symptoms and changes in condition to appropriate healthcare providers
- Assess, implement, evaluate, and update individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Record and interpret patient vital signs, clinical observations, and relevant medical information
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and care plans
- Ensure compliance with oncology nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations
Required:
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred
- Strong assessment, critical‑thinking, and clinical decision‑making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Excellent communication, documentation, and patient‑education skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Previous experience in oncology, infusion services, medical‑surgical, or acute‑care settings
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) credential
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required by unit
