Registered Nurse (Pre/Post Surgical Services)
Responsible for implementing the pre-operative
record, nursing care plan and the assimilation of the patient’s hospital
record. Also responsible for implementing all physician orders, obtaining
signatures on consents, and providing for continuity and quality of nursing
care for patients.
Performs tasks like: Evaluating, planning,
implementing, and documenting nursing care needs of the post-operative or
post-procedural patient population; Assesses
and maintains adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assessing level
of consciousness, providing pain management, and ensuring the safety of the
patient until transfer to another unit; and Observes patient, records significant conditions and
reactions, and notifies supervisor or
Physician of patient's condition and reaction to
drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State of Indiana
- Healthcare BLS, ACLS & PALS certification. (ACLS & PALS certification must be obtained per department guidelines)
- Two (2) or more years pre-operative nursing experience
- Experience with cath lab patients a plus.
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN)
- Three (3) or more years pre-operative or pre-admitting nursing experience OR recovery room or PACU nursing experience
