Base salary from $76,868 - $107,956 (Registered Nurse level 2-8 salary based on experience) plus 12% superannuation and access to the full salary packaging benefit with Maxxia to maximise your take-home pay (including venue hire, meals, entertainment and novated leasing).

Macquarie University Hospital is seeking passionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join our specialised Neurosurgery & Spinal team across casual, part-time and permanent arrangements.

About the Role
Reporting to the Nursing Unit Manager (Theatres), you will be instrumental in supporting complex neurosurgical and spinal procedures, ensuring safe, patient-centred care across all phases of the perioperative journey.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing the operating theatre for intricate spinal and cranial surgeries, including the management of highly specialised instruments and equipment.
Maintaining strict aseptic techniques and delivering safe, patient-centred care throughout the perioperative journey.
Anticipating the needs of the surgical team and responding rapidly to changes during procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff in a high-stakes environment.
Exercising independent professional judgement and critical thinking during complex procedures and critical incidents.
Contributing to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance, and patient safety initiatives.

About You
You are a clinically skilled Registered Nurse with recent perioperative theatre experience, a strong patient focus, and genuine enthusiasm for working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You maintain a positive attitude, embrace innovation, and adapt readily to new practices, bringing excellent communication skills and a dedication to outstanding care in the perioperative setting.
Selection Criteria
Recent perioperative theatre experience, with experience in key areas such as Neurosurgery & Spinal essential for this role.
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and during critical incidents.
Availability to work a flexible schedule.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking.
Well-developed computer skills, including the use of electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based research.
