The VA Travel Corps is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the implementation of the Cerner Electronic Health Records Management (EHRM) system across VA facilities nationwide. The VA Travel Nurse Corps, a segment of the Veterans Health Administration Office, is seeking intermittent Registered Nurses (RN) for temporary short term and long-term clinical assignments. The appointment may be extended depending on program requirements.*** The VA Travel Corps, part of the Veterans Health Administration, is seeking highly skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) for temporary intermittent assignments. These positions include both short-term and long-term clinical deployments. RNs in this program will commit to a minimum of 39 weeks per appointment year, providing critical support for the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) rollout. Assignments will involve delivering supplemental staffing at VA Medical Centers nationwide to ensure continuity of care and operational excellence. While on assignment the RN will work full time hours at their assigned facility and may function in the role of Staff Nurse or Charge Nurse depending on their level of experience and the needs of their assigned facility. The nurse practices in a complex patient care setting in collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues and the department nurse/unit manager. The primary responsibilities of this Registered Nurse position include but are not limited to: Provide population specific and age-specific care for patients from young adulthood to older veterans/groups in the senior years of life. Manage a defined but dynamic caseload of patients in collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Initiate, plan, implement, evaluate, and appropriately document patient care based on identified measurable outcomes in the patient care environment. Anticipate and respond appropriately to emergencies, coordinate interventions, and evaluate responses through critical analysis of patient systems/operational situations. Initiate and lead individuals or groups through the educational process to optimize health. Monitor and document all applicable clinical reminders and performance measure outcomes timely and appropriately. Use EHRM (i.e. CPRS or CERNER- Site Dependent) and Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) documentation in compliance with designated facility programs. Implement the National Patient Safety Goals to support positive outcomes for the patient group. May provide direct oversight to other staff, nursing students, and/or be assigned as a preceptor. Supporting the rollout of EHRM in the VHA system.
