Job Description

In this role you will be primarily responsible for supporting the Regulatory Compliance function through the oversight, assessment and regulatory handling and reporting of operational, safeguarding and technical incidents. This includes the implementation and ongoing monitoring of compliance controls associated with the regulatory compliance obligations of Currencycloud Netherlands. In addition, you will contribute to the broader regulatory compliance activities, supporting priorities in line with business requirements

Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Support the identification, monitoring, and mitigation of regulatory risks to ensure compliance with applicable local and international regulatory standards.

  • Support the Regulatory Function in ensuring compliance with a broad range of obligations to include but not limited to oversight, assessment and regulatory classification of operational, safeguarding and technical incidents and general regulatory engagement across Netherlands and Europe.

  • Act as the primary contact for the first line, providing regulatory compliance oversight of incident analysis, including assessing potential regulatory impact and determining escalation requirements.

  • Prepare initial drafts of regulatory notifications and incident reports for internal stakeholders and to regulators (e.g. major incident reporting), ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness.

  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements relating to incident reporting frameworks in EU and in the Netherlands (DORA experience is a plus)

  • Contribute to broader regulatory compliance activities (e.g. safeguarding, incident-related matters, regulatory reporting) as capacity allows and in line with team priorities.

  • Proactively identify and evaluate emerging regulatory trends, laws, and regulatory updates in markets of operation.

  • Support in advising the business as to the appropriate response to regulatory incidents, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities as and if required.

  • Maintain and improve the regulatory incident investigations procedures ensuring that sufficient detailed records are kept at all times.

  • Work alongside a wide range of business stakeholders to ensure that all relevant steps are taken to mitigate any impact from any regulatory incident to maintain our robust and effective regulatory environment, including providing direction to relevant stakeholders to ensure any observed patterns and trends are known to allow for proactive control implementation.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders who retain decision-making responsibility, while supporting the preparation of materials and regulatory submissions.

  • Foster a culture of compliance within the organization, promoting awareness and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Support the regulatory function in any ad hoc tasks, projects and workflows as they arise and are prioritised for the business.

Qualifications

  • A good understanding of core pillars of effective regulatory compliance programmes.

  • Recognised compliance qualification (ICA or similar) and/or educated to relevant degree level.

  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of regulatory landscape and regulations such as: Payment Services Directive, Safeguarding, DORA rules on Major Incidents.

  • Exposure to or interest in operational risk, incident management, safeguarding or operational resilience.

  • A strong team player with a positive attitude, who has attention to detail and shows initiative.

  • Able to take a flexible and agile approach and respond to changing priorities. A clear communicator, with a high standard of written English.

Desirable

  • Regulatory compliance experience with a Financial Services or cross border payments institution.

  • Experience in incident management, major incident reporting or operational risk within a financial services environment.

  • Familiarity with DORA and regulatory expectations relating to ICT and operational incidents. (good to have).

  • Adept at working independently and multi-tasking.

  • Bachelor’s degree in law is advantageous.

  • Dutch speaker - preferred
