Reliability Engineer

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: This position is part of the Maintenance/Reliability Team and reports to the Maintenance Manager. You will be part of a team that is embedded in the daily operations to include a Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Crafts Specialist, and Process Engineers. As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the Mechanical Integrity and Reliability Programs.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and manages equipment maintenance plans for area equipment including updating PM, PdM, CBM routines, and equipment lists in SAP

  • Conducts Critical Equipment Analysis and Criticality Assessments

  • Manages Critical Equipment lists Tracks and analyzes reliability data on Critical Equipment

  • Develops Maintenance Strategies for equipment

  • Identifies and defines reliability improvements for daily maintenance as well as projects

  • Troubleshoots long term equipment issues Identifies critical spares and recommended spare parts inventory levels

  • Tracks, manages, and analyzes area asset reliability data

  • Manages area equipment files and documentation

  • Conducts RCIs and incident investigations for equipment failures

  • Conducts daily job site inspections and walkthroughs Identifies and scope potential reliability improvement projects

  • Facilitates area Maintenance planning and execution meeting for outages

  • Provides input to weekly maintenance schedules

  • Assists with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs

  • Participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including, PSSR and Management of Change (MOCs)

  • Provides oversight of stores equipment repairs on and off site Participates in safety programs and initiatives

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Certification: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5 or more years of relevant industrial experience in reliability engineering.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proactive problem-solving approach

  • Proficient with MS Office suite

  • Knowledge of a maintenance scheduling tool

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with stakeholders throughout the plant to solve problems

  • Ability to organize and prioritize

  • Preferred Qualifications Experience using SAP Preventative Maintenance module

  • Previous experience working in a PSM plant

  • Knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, etc

  • Knowledge of machinery lubrication

  • Knowledge of equipment monitoring such as Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Oil Analysis and Infrared Thermography

  • Understanding of industry design, repair standards and maintenance practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to walk reasonable distances, potentially on uneven ground or catwalks, and ascend stairs.

  • Ability to climb ladders and otherwise navigate through industrial/manufacturing settings and around equipment/installations.

  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and crawl.

  • Ability to maneuver in confined spaces.

  • Ability to reach with both arms.

  • Ability to walk reasonable distances, potentially on uneven ground, and ascend stairs.
