Research Assistant - CRU
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To assist investigators in performing biobanking and sample management activities for PI initiated research projects.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Biobank specimens (e.g. blood, urine) collected from participants in various research studies.
- Maintain and track stock level of specimens-related consumables and place orders when necessary.
- Regularly check and ensure specimens are stored at correct temperature range.
- Plan and accommodate freezer space allocation for new incoming studies when requested by investigators.
- Retrieve specimens from storage as and when requested by investigators.
- Maintain and update specimen volume catalogues to ensure accuracy.
- Plan, aliquot, and advise on large-scale specimens matters.
- Perform study-specific bench work such as DNA extraction and ELISA tests in accordance with prescribed work procedures.
- Maintain and ensure a clean and safe environment for research specimens.
- Participate in department's education programmes (e.g. Journal Club).
- Assist investigators in simple administrative reports.
- Any other duties as assigned by Senior Research Officer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Diploma in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Experience as a Research Assistant will be preferred
