Research Fellow (Synthetic Organic Chemistry)

The Chiba’s group at CCEB is seeking to hire a Research Fellow to facilitate research in the development of new organic photocatalysts that enable sustainable molecular transformations for the synthesis of complex molecules.

Key purposes:

The candidate will be expected:

  • to be engaged in the design and synthesis of new organo photocatalysts

  • to be engaged in the investigation of detailed reaction mechanisms

  • to be engaged in the development of new photocatalytic molecular transformations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily experiments and analyses of the data obtained from them

  • To oversee the project team to advance the project

  • To submit weekly reports on the experimental results

  • To give an oral presentation in group meeting

  • To summarize the project as the papers (one or two / year)

  • To assist planning and elaboration of the future funding proposals

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry.

  • At least 5 years’ experiences in synthetic organic chemistry as graduate and/or postdoctoral fellow level in advanced institutions.

  • Analytical skills in NMR, mass spec, IR, UV-vis, potentiostat, etc.

  • Skills in handling of air-sensitive materials and transient species in synthetic photochemistry.
