Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will competently provide essential respiratory care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Your expertise is vital for critical respiratory interventions and patient well-being.Every day you will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, mechanical ventilator operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration.To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical skills in all aspects of respiratory care across age groups, meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to patient safety and infection control, and the ability to perform effectively in emergencies.

  • Analyzes blood specimens for pH, pCO2, pO2 and THb with no more than 5 errors per year.
  • Demonstrates competence in recognizing and reporting critical values in the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Performs bronchoscopies and maintains records per procedure with a high degree of accuracy as demonstrated by less than 5% error.
  • Performs PFT exams accurately with less than 10 errors per year as demonstrated by reporting erroneous data or having to recall patients to correct test data.
  • Performs QC tests on blood gas analyzers, performs and maintains department QC and quality metrics such as daily crash cart checks and bronchoscope cleaning audits.less than 5% per year per audit.
  • Performs other procedures such as indirect calorimetry, HAST, ambulations and any other procedures requested with less than 5% errors per year, as demonstrated by reporting physiologically erroneous data.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, CA.
  • Completion of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program
  • Two (2) years minimum acute care experience, with one (1) year of critical care experience.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner, CA.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Preferred

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
