Responsible Sourcing Manager Mr Price

The Responsible Sourcing Manager plays a key role in reducing risk to Mr Price by ensuring that factories and suppliers develop, implement, and regularly update responsible strategic plans. The role includes oversight, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on compliance impact.

Research & Strategy Development

  • Keep abreast of best responsible business practices per region, to reduce risk and drive supplier compliance
  • Research on New factories for production on new products in collaboration with sourcing.
  • Create regional and supplier-based compliance-readiness strategies based on research and PM's.
  • Develop and implement responsible and sustainable sourcing strategy and program, including relevant policies, standards, and processes.

Compliance Implementing & Monitoring

  • Ensure suppliers have a strategy towards BBEE and factory social compliance
  • Assist supplier in execution of supplier strategy for BBEE compliance and factory social compliance and update on progress
  • Support and give guidance to supplier on action plans to remediation and communicate progress
  • Support suppliers and Merch team in achieving specific factory manufacturing and social compliance with regards to special DTR brands agreements

Communication and Reporting

  • Communication to Directors on progress of BBEE and factory social compliance and highlight risk areas
  • Prepare Board reporting with regards to compliance
  • Prepare reports in response to ADHOC raids and factory compliance issues
  • Build strong and strategic relationships with suppliers
  • Plan, prepare and execute Seasonal readiness strategy of suppliers and their factories
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Merchandise teams to support product strategy timeously
  • A completed Degree or Diploma in Clothing Management or related
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a mid- to senior-management role in Responsible Sourcing, Ethical Sourcing, or Sustainability, preferably within the fashion, clothing manufacturing, or retail sector. Experience in factory or ethical sourcing from other industries will also be considered
  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and compliance training across international and South African contexts
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex multi-stakeholder programs and developing policies and standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and navigate ambiguity with minimal oversight or direction
  • High ethical standards and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of Compliance, Social Audits, Sustainability, Ethical Sourcing Principles, Social Responsibility Standards, BBBEE
  • You demonstrate strong awareness of global and local supply chain sustainability issues and actively apply best practices
