Retail Communications Manager (On-site)
As our Retail Communications Manager, you’ll be the person who keeps Lakeshore’s retail teams informed, aligned and ready to deliver for the families and educators we serve. You’ll own internal communications for our retail division end to end—turning business priorities, operational updates and leadership messages into clear, practical guidance our 50-plus stores can act on. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role and the single owner of retail communications, so it’s built for a strong writer and organized project manager who likes being the go-to for keeping a large field organization connected. If you take pride in bringing order and clarity to a lot of moving parts, you’ll fit right in here.
A day on the job looks like this:
- Own the retail communication calendar and intake process—deciding what reaches stores and when, so teams get the right information at the right time.
- Write, edit and proofread the communications that keep stores running, from newsletters and field bulletins to email updates, templated messaging, talking points and memos—all in one clear, consistent voice.
- Partner with senior leaders, Store and Territory Managers, corporate communications and cross-functional teams to turn policy changes, training rollouts, store events and operational updates into practical, store-ready guidance.
- Keep SharePoint, store resources and reference materials organized and current so field teams can always find what they need.
- Spot communication gaps and risks early, and streamline how messages get created and shared to keep things consistent across the division.
- Gather feedback from field leaders and store teams, and bring their perspective into the way we communicate.
- Act as a customer liaison—tracking feedback and coordinating quick, timely responses to service issues and inquiries.
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Retail Management or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years in retail, field or internal communications, with a strong preference for retail or field environments.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with a track record of clear, consistent content for different audiences.
- Proven ability to prioritize competing requests, manage a communication calendar and intake, and deliver multiple projects on time.
- Proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Preferred:
- 3+ years partnering with senior leaders, field leaders and cross-functional teams on communication planning and execution.
- Experience supporting a multi-unit retail or field organization.
- Familiarity with project management and digital content or resource-management tools.
What sets you apart:
- You stay organized and keep a clear head when priorities shift.
- You write and speak in plain, human language that any audience can act on.
- You take initiative—spotting what could be clearer and fixing it before anyone asks.
- You build trust quickly and partner easily across teams, with a collaborative, people-first approach.
