Retail Specialist (Carry Guide)

IN A NUTSHELL …

Bellroy's first Melbourne store is opening, and now we're assembling a team to bring it to life. Of course we want to sell great products, but the best way we know how to do that is by helping people find the right thing for their life. That takes genuine curiosity, real product knowledge, and the ability to have a conversation that doesn't feel like a sales script.

As a Bellroy Guide, you’ll be the face of Bellroy on the floor. You'll get to know the range thoroughly; the materials, the design thinking, the details that make each product worth owning - and share that curiosity with the people who walk through the doors. Some days that means a ten-minute chat that ends in a considered purchase. Others, it means helping someone through a return, with the same care you'd bring to any other interaction. Both matter equally here.

Bellroy is a B Corp, which means how we make things and who makes them is part of the story you'll be telling. You don't need to memorise a sustainability deck, you just need to genuinely find it interesting, because customers will ask.

Casual retail can often feel like you're just filling shifts. This is different. You’ll have the responsibility of outfitting our Bellroy customers and shaping their journeys, no matter the destination. The product is genuinely interesting, the brand has real substance behind it, and because this is a new store, the team and culture are still being shaped; which means there's real room for good people to make their mark.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE …

  • Some retail or customer-facing experience and a natural way with people, think genuine warmth and the ability to listen before you talk. Real curiosity about products and the thinking behind them. You enjoy going deep on what makes something well-designed, and that comes through when you're talking to a customer
  • The ability to stay composed and helpful when things get tricky - a complaint handled well or a return processed without any drama
  • Attention to the details that make a store feel considered: displays that look intentional, a floor that resets properly, a POS transaction that's accurate every time
  • A team-first approach; you share what you're hearing from customers, flag things that need flagging, and don't leave things for someone else to deal with
  • Flexibility. Casual retail means varied shifts, including weekends. You're comfortable with that and show up ready regardless of the day.

Even if you don't tick every box, if you're excited by the idea of representing a brand you genuinely respect and building real product knowledge, we'd love to hear from you!

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE …

  • Helped a customer who came in looking for a wallet and left with a thoughtful answer to a problem they hadn't quite named yet
  • Participated in a product briefing on a new launch, asked a question about the materials, and felt genuinely more confident on the floor for it
  • Processed a return for a customer who was a bit frustrated when they came in, and sent them off in a better mood than they arrived
  • Reset the floor after a busy Saturday afternoon, noticed a pricing card was missing from one display and sorted it before anyone else caught it
  • Answered a call from a customer asking about warranty and gave them a clear, accurate answer; then flagged the product to the team because it was the third query that week.
