Retort Cannery Operator

As the Cannery Retort\nOperator, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing\nfacilities responsible for operating and maintaining retort\nequipment to sterilize canned seafood products. This involves loading and\nunloading retorts, monitoring and adjusting temperature and pressure\nsettings, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Operators must\nalso maintain accurate records, conduct routine inspections, and\ntroubleshoot equipment malfunctions. They play a crucial role in\nguaranteeing the safety and quality of canned seafood products. <\/span>

  • Ensure protocols set are being\n followed and adhered to in a professional manner.\u202f <\/span>

  • Control over each cook with\n precise documentation.\u202f <\/span>

  • Maintain accuracy/\n penmanship excellence on all regulated documentation.\u202f <\/span>

  • Quick\n and timely response regarding QA notifications to cook\n temperatures.\u202f <\/span>

  • Supervision of retort unloads\n to maintain an accurate post\-cook cool down.\u202f <\/span>

  • Pre and post season maintenance\n is needed to have a positive start\-up of season.\u202f <\/span>

  • Aid when/ if needed to the\n engineering department to\n ensure maintaining the maximum boiler efficiency.\u202f <\/span>

        Education and Experience<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span>

        • Experience working in a food\n processing plant, particularly in a canning or retort operation, is highly\n beneficial. <\/span>
          <\/span><\/li>
        • Knowledge of food safety\n regulations and quality control procedures are advantageous. <\/span>

        • Experience with retort\n equipment and its operation is helpful.\u202f\u202f <\/span>
          <\/span><\/li>
        • Previous experience in\n Seafood or Manufacturing preferred. <\/span>

          While performing the\nduties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical\nparts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid\nconditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high,\nprecarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;\noutside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise\nlevel in the work environment is usually loud. Position\nrequires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability\nto travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our\nvarious locations and processing facilities in Alaska. <\/span>
