RN ICU - New Orleans, LA

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in a well-established acute care hospital setting in New Orleans. This role is ideal for an RN with strong critical care experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

The ICU RN will provide advanced, patient-centered care to critically ill patients, utilizing clinical expertise, sound judgment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs and clinical status
  • Administer medications, including IV drips, titratable medications, and life-support therapies
  • Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment (ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.)
  • Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and critical care processes
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EMR systems
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety, infection control, and hospital protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 1–2 years of ICU or critical care experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ventilators, drips, and critical care protocols
  • BSN preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
  • CCRN certification (or willingness to obtain)
