Position Summary
The RN Staff Development Nurse / Infection Control Nurse plays a vital leadership role in ensuring clinical excellence through staff education, orientation, competency validation, and infection control oversight. This position is responsible for coordinating onboarding for new clinical staff, providing ongoing education, promoting regulatory compliance, and supporting a culture of continuous learning and quality resident care.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate orientation and onboarding for all newly hired clinical staff.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs based on regulatory requirements, quality initiatives, and resident care needs.
- Assess ongoing staff educational needs and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Coordinate continuing education opportunities to support licensure and certification requirements.
- Assign and monitor mandatory education through Relias Learning Management System and track monthly and annual compliance.
- Conduct competency evaluations and skills validation for clinical staff.
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure staff remain current on clinical best practices and regulatory standards.
- Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve educational programs using evidence-based practices.
- Lead the facility's Infection Control Program by conducting surveillance, monitoring infection trends, implementing prevention strategies, and educating staff on infection control practices.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, CDC, state, and facility infection control regulations and policies.
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
