Roll Off Dispatcher- Brooklyn NY
Waste Connections is seeking a Roll Off Dispatcher to join our team in Brooklyn, NY. This role is essential to keeping our operations running smoothly by coordinating drivers, resolving service issues, and supporting our customer service and operations teams. Hourly Rate đźš›: $24-$28/hr. (depending on relevant experience)
Schedule ⏰: Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm
Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for managing incoming requests, dispatching drivers based on priority, and ensuring timely and accurate service delivery. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent computer proficiency, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a high‑volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily schedules, including deliveries, pickups, and container exchanges
- Assign drivers and adjust schedules throughout the day based on workload and service needs
- Optimize routing and equipment utilization to support efficient operations
- Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion of all scheduled work
- Communicate with drivers, sales, and customer service to coordinate updates and resolve issues
- Prioritize urgent or high‑value accounts and manage delays or service disruptions
- Reallocate work and coordinate reschedules to maintain service levels
- Ensure accurate job documentation, order entry, and system updates
- Review and schedule all incoming service requests received via email
- Escalate service or capacity issues and provide timely updates to internal teams and customers
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of dispatcher experience in transportation or logistics preferred
- Experience with live dispatch operations and coordinating drivers
- Experience creating and managing driver schedules
- Familiarity with telematics/driver coaching tools such as 3rd Eye, Lytx, and DriveCam
- Strong typing and data entry skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Waste industry experience strongly preferred
