Safety Officer

As the Safety Officer<\/span>, you will be a vital member <\/span><\/span>at<\/span> <\/span>one of our Alaskan processing facilities<\/span><\/span> <\/span>responsible for <\/span>ensuring a safe and healthy working environment within an organization. This position will <\/span>develop, implement, and <\/span>monitor <\/span>safety policies and procedures, conduct safety training, investigate accidents and incidents, and promote a culture of safety. Safety Officer plays <\/span>a crucial role in protecting the well\-being of employees and preventing workplace injuries.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

  • Follow all OSHA/AKOSH/EPA standards and company policies while on company property as well as while <\/span>operating <\/span>a company vehicle off property.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

    • Ensure <\/span>site information is <\/span><\/span>complete<\/span> <\/span>and current and on\-site safety program activities are documented.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

      • File near misses and first reports of injury, <\/span>completes <\/span>accident investigations, and <\/span>relays <\/span>information to facility and corporate management.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
        <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

        • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace and report to the Plant Manager.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
          <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

          • Plan, develop, <\/span>implement <\/span>and document safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>

            • Coordinate the development of safety policies to <\/span><\/span>comply with<\/span> <\/span>OSHA standards and to ensure employee safety<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
              <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

              • Schedule safety meeting times, document minutes<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                • PSM committee member and scribe<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                  • Assist 3<\/span><\/span><\/span>rd<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u202fparty contractor in conducting annual noise survey and employee hearing tests<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                    • Conduct an annual chemical physical inventory and audit SDSs<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                      <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                      • Assist HR Manager in the maintenance of OSHA logs and posts OSHA 300A form <\/span><\/span>in accordance with<\/span> <\/span>regulations<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                        <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                        • Participate in quarterly claim reviews<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                          <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                          • Notify management of regulatory/enforcement visits, <\/span><\/span>accompanies<\/span> <\/span><\/span>inspector<\/span>, attend opening and closing conferences, document the inspection and conferenc<\/span>e<\/span> <\/span>including photos<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                            <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                            • Conduct a planned emergency evacuation drill 1 time each season<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                              <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                              • Schedules <\/span><\/span>First<\/span>\u202fAid/CPR training\u202f<\/span>for facility.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                • Attend daily production morning meetings and update group on safety items as needed<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                  • Conduct and <\/span><\/span>document<\/span> <\/span>on\-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                    • Manage and <\/span><\/span>maintain<\/span> <\/span>all safety\-related documentation, safety record keeping, and reporting requirements<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                      <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                      • Establish a safety committee and schedule meeting times<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                        <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                        • Assist<\/span> <\/span>human resources in monitoring worker compensation claims<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                          <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                          • Help develop controls for <\/span><\/span>identified<\/span> <\/span>hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from <\/span><\/span>results<\/span> <\/span>of hazard analysis<\/span>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                            <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                            • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to <\/span><\/span>eliminate<\/span> <\/span><\/span>workplace<\/span> <\/span>accidents and injuries<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
                                              <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

                                              • Other duties are to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
