Position Overview

We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation and daily execution of workplace safety programs within a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on hazard recognition, employee engagement, safety compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout operations.

The ideal candidate will maintain a visible presence on the production floor, work closely with employees and supervisors, and help ensure safe and efficient workplace practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Shop Floor Safety & Employee Engagement
  • Maintain a consistent presence throughout the production and fabrication areas.
  • Observe daily operations and identify potential hazards in real time.
  • Engage employees to reinforce safe work practices and address unsafe conditions.
  • Promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
  • Inspections & Hazard Identification
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and observations.
  • Identify safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Document findings and track corrective actions through completion.
  • Support compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Training & Communication
  • Assist with safety orientation and onboarding for new employees.
  • Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions.
  • Provide practical safety coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors.
  • Help communicate safety expectations and best practices across the workforce.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Help develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
  • Program Administration
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and related files.
  • Assist with regulatory and internal compliance documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for safety programs and processes.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a safety, EHS, risk management, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety principles, hazard recognition, and incident investigation practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or related credentials are preferred.
