Sales Manager, Energy, Process & Marine Systems

Valmet’s Energy, Process and Marine Systems division is strengthening its growth in APAC. We are now looking for a Sales Manager to drive direct sales to key customers while also developing and supporting partners across the region.

This role is ideally based in Taiwan and focuses on expanding Valmet’s business in Taiwan as a primary market, while also supporting opportunities in China, Singapore, Malaysia, and e.g. other Chinese-speaking customer segments.

Role Overview

As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving growth in your region by developing business through partners as well as direct customer relationships.

  • Develop and manage relationships with key end customers, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities directly where appropriate
  • Identify, onboard, and develop partners (system integrators, solution providers, distributors, agents), and work with them to successfully position, sell, and deliver Valmet solutions
  • Build and execute account and territory plans that drive sustainable and profitable growth
  • Drive new business development by leveraging the most effective route to market—partner, direct, or a combination of both

This is a hands-on commercial role, combining hunting, account management, and channel development. You will work closely with the APAC Sales organization and Global Partner Management team to ensure alignment on strategy, offerings, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Sales & Key Account Management

  • Develop and execute sales strategies for key accounts in Taiwan and other Chinese-speaking markets
  • Identify new opportunities, lead customer engagement, and drive the full sales cycle
  • Build trusted relationships with decision-makers and influencers within customer organizations
  • Lead solution positioning, proposal development, and contract negotiations

Partner Development & Management

  • Identify and recruit new partners aligned with Valmet’s growth strategy
  • Manage and develop selected partners as their primary commercial interface
  • Enable partners to identify, develop, and win business opportunities jointly with Valmet
  • Drive partner onboarding and capability development, including sales training, solution positioning, and go‑to‑market planning

Collaborative Sales Execution

  • Work jointly with partners on sales opportunities:
    • Opportunity identification and qualification
    • Solution development and positioning
    • Customer engagement and proposal creation
  • Support project execution in collaboration with Valmet delivery and engineering teams

Market Development

  • Analyze market trends and identify growth opportunities across target industries
  • Act as a bridge between customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment with Valmet’s global partner models, tools, and governance
  • Travel within APAC as needed

Scope of Business

You will drive sales and partner growth for Valmet’s automation portfolio, including:

  • Valmet DNA & DNAe Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Advanced control, optimization, and information management solutions
  • Asset performance and digital solutions
  • Automation lifecycle services
  • Target industries include energy, process, marine, and related industrial sectors.

Requirements

Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in automation, electrical engineering, energy, or related field e.g. oil & gas, refining, chemicals, water/wastewater.
  • Proven experience in industrial sales, preferably in automation, DCS, or control systems
  • Experience in industrial sales, including direct customer engagement and/or partner/channel business
  • Experience in energy, process, or industrial sectors

Key Competencies

  • Strong understanding of solution-based selling and long sales cycles
  • Ability to work effectively in an international matrix organization
  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and strong business English skills
  • Willingness to travel across the region
  • Experience with Valmet DNA or similar platforms is an advantage but not required.
