SAP Functional Business Analyst
- Work closely with business users, operations, finance, technology, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
- Understand banking business processes and map them effectively to SAP functional capabilities.
- Prepare and maintain business requirement documents, functional specifications, process flows, user stories, test scenarios, and other project documentation.
- Act as a bridge between business users and technical / SAP development teams.
- Support SAP functional configuration discussions, impact assessments, gap analysis, and solution validation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Perform around 20% project management activities, including planning, tracking, status reporting, risk / issue management, and stakeholder follow-ups.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables and ensure completion within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Support SIT, UAT, defect triage, user clarification, deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Ensure proper documentation, traceability, approvals, and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Drive accountability across teams and ensure open items are followed through to closure.
Required Skills and Experience
- 6 to 9 years of experience as a SAP Functional BA / Functional Consultant / Business Analyst.
- Strong experience working in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
- Good understanding of SAP functional modules relevant to banking / finance operations.
- Experience in requirement gathering, functional documentation, process mapping, gap analysis, and solution validation.
- Exposure to project management activities such as status reporting, milestone tracking, risk and issue management.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take end-to-end ownership of assigned tasks.
- Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in SAP Finance, Treasury, Payments, Loans, Trade Finance, Risk, Compliance, or Banking Operations.
- Prior experience working with banks or financial institutions on SAP implementation, enhancement, migration, or support projects.
- Knowledge of regulatory, finance, accounting, or operational processes in banking.
- Experience coordinating with offshore / onsite teams.
- Certification in SAP, Business Analysis, Agile, Scrum, or Project Management would be an advantage.
