Sattline Application Specialist – Drive Automation and Digitalization in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

At Syntese, you will have the opportunity to become the key Sattline application specialist at one of Ferring's important API manufacturing sites. Through development and maintenance of the application layer in our OT systems, you will play a vital role in ensuring stable, reliable, and efficient production while contributing to the future digitalization of our manufacturing environment.

Our company operates 15 manufacturing sites worldwide. One of these sites is Syntese, located in Hvidovre, Denmark, where we manufacture Mesalazine 24/7. Mesalazine is an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) used in our formulations for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. We are globally recognized for producing Mesalazine of exceptional and consistent quality. In doing so, we help thousands of people in Denmark and millions worldwide who live with chronic intestinal inflammation such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. At Syntese you will work on-site, alongside approximately 140 engaged and highly skilled colleagues in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Your immediate team consists of three highly experienced colleagues: the Head of IT/OT, a Systems Analyst, and an OT Hardware Specialist. Together, you form a small but highly capable team where knowledge sharing, technical discussions, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work.
The team works closely with Production, QA, Compliance, and Engineering to ensure stable operations while driving innovation and modernization initiatives.

Your day at Ferring
As our Sattline Application Specialist, you will also play a key role in ensuring the stability and performance of the Distributed Control System (DCS) at our manufacturing site, supporting daily operations and driving system improvements.
You will have hands-on responsibility for the Sattline application layer, including:
Analyzing batch execution and process logic to troubleshoot production issues
Identifying root causes of process deviations within the Sattline application code
Developing, implementing, and testing code changes to support process improvements and optimizations
Leading or participating in automation, digitalization, and process optimization initiatives. Ensuring all changes are handled in accordance with GMP, validation, and change control requirements
As the site's primary Sattline application specialist, you will have significant influence on technical decisions, system enhancements, and the overall evolution of the OT environment. You will also contribute to system lifecycle management and business-critical projects, including upgrades and continuous improvement of the control system landscape.
In addition, the site is exploring future modernization initiatives, including potential migration to ABB 800xA and integration of new production infrastructure.

In addition, you have:
Experience developing and troubleshooting Sattline application code, including batch logic, alarms, and sequencing in a regulated environment
Hands-on experience with Sattline or similar DCS/SCADA platforms (e.g., PROCOS, DeltaV, or ABB 800xA), including configuration and application programming
The ability to translate process changes into robust, compliant control solutions with proper testing and documentation
Experience working in a GMP-regulated industry (pharma, chemistry, or food)
A relevant technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience
