School Age Child Care Group Leader

As a key member of our child care team, the Group Leader is responsible for creating a safe, fun and positive atmosphere that promotes member engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
- Possess the willingness of 100% COMMITMENT in actively engaging with school-age children both indoors and outdoors and have FUN!
- Lead group activities and assist with homework
- Maintains positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies all safety rules
- Attends all trainings and staff meetings as assigned
- Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures in managing high-risk activities and appropriate boundaries of supervision. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.
- Complete free CPR and First Aid certification within the first 90 days of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping
- Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time
- Exposure to swimming pools
- Noise level- High
- Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting your voice across a distance in normal & loud situations.
- Lifting up to 50lbs
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30am-8:30am and 2:00pm-6pm
