School and Community Aide – Brookline, MA
A loving family in Brookline, MA 02446 seeks a caregiver to support their smart, inquisitive, funny 14-year-old girl with mobility limitations in school, summer camp, home, and the community. This family has a COVID-19 and FLU vaccination policy, which will be discussed directly with the candidate.
Schedule:
- Summer Hours: 12 hour shifts, days and overnights, variable days of the week (schedule posted one month at a time)
- School Year: Typical schedule is Monday through Friday. Start time 7:00 am with variable end time of 4:30 - 6 pm (advanced notice will be given)
- Willingness to work occasional nights or weekends during school year to support staffing needs
Responsibilities:
- Drive family vehicle to and from school/summer camp
- Assist with participation during the school day, summer camp programs, and community activities
- Learn and utilize adaptive equipment and devices that support the child's independence
- Provide support with activities of daily living and personal care
- Assist with positioning, transfers, and mobility support
- Support teen and parent/nurse in hospital and clinic appointments such as with PT, OT, and other medical specialists
Requirements:
- No experience required
- Valid driver's license and willingness to drive the family's wheelchair-accessible van
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, including lifting and transfers
- Comfortable learning specialized care techniques and medical support tasks
- Education or training beyond high school preferred
- The ideal candidate loves children and has an interest in a health/medical career (camp counselor, health care, EMT, PT/OT interest, childcare or child life specialist-types are encouraged to apply)
Compensation:
- $20–$30 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- PTO available, training and resources will be provided
- Candidate will be required to enroll with Tempus for payroll processing
