School Services Manager Children's Health
Job Description:
The School Services Manager oversees all aspects and operations of the school services hospital programs and defines the scope, strategy, goals, and growth of school services. The job includes management of day-to-day operations of the team, supervision of employees, financial management of the program budget, partnerships with foundation and donor support for funding, and program growth and development. This role also maintains a patient caseload and provides direct services to patients and families.Pay Rate: Based on experience
Shift Details: This is an EXEMPT position that typically works 9:00am - 5:00pm (Monday through Friday) across both our Salt Lake City and Lehi Campuses.
This position will be required to work 2x/week in Lehi and 2x/week in SLC with 1x/week work from home.
This is a “working manager” position, meaning that this individual will provide both leadership/oversite of the team as well as provide direct patient care at a reduced caseload.Locations: Primary Children's Hospitals (Salt Lake City, Lehi, & Taylorsville)
Additional Details: This is a leadership position that requires oversight of staff across two campuses.
Previous Administrative experience preferred.
Spanish Speaking is preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of the educational and curriculum processes for children with special health care needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of current state and federal education-related legislation
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications (email, word processing, and spreadsheets)
- Demonstrated paid experience in a certified teaching role
- Bachelor's degree, obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Professional Teaching Certificate and Current State Teaching Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years’ experience in a certified teaching role
- Previous experience in a supervisory/leadership role
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting
Essential Functions
- Coordinates with on-site operations leaders at various locations where school services are provided, to ensure proper access to space and equipment, and knowledge of services available.
- Collaborates with the Volunteer Department to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; Educates other staff and professionals about patients’ needs and the services offered; Supervises employees including oversight of training, retention, and performance.
- Acts as a resource for patients, families, and school personnel in developing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans; Completes timely and accurate patient care documentation within compliance standards; Collaborates with other staff and professionals to provide comprehensive education services to patients and families.
- Assesses educational needs of patients/families; Develops and facilitates educational programming and transition planning; Collaborates with public and private educational systems to obtain and communicate educational information (with parents' written permission) and to arrange appropriate educational services and transition plans.
- Networks with community agencies (such as schools and state agencies) as a consultant on educational needs of chronically ill / injured children.
- Authors communication materials (e.g., presentations, documents, proposals); Authors materials, such as presentations, documents, and handouts for patients, parents, family members and community groups.
- Communicates education recommendations and resources to the multidisciplinary team to assist in treatment planning and patient care.
- Fosters a positive learning environment for patients through educational activities to meet individual needs and to promote academic achievement hospital-wide; Provides family members with educational information and recommendations utilizing patient history and current status to determine most appropriate educational placements.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
