SE Instructional Technology Consultant
Job Description
Summary:
Instructional Technology Consultants support the integration of multimedia technology in teaching and learning, with a focus on digital media projects. This role provides hands-on experience with tools such as virtual reality, 3D printing, large-format printing, and photo and video editing. Consultants work in the Technology Studio, a division of the Weinstein Learning Center, contributing to a collaborative, problem-solving environment where curiosity and adaptability are essential. Hard work is recognized through opportunities for promotion and management roles.
Specific Duties:
Learn software and hardware through training videos, one-on-one instruction, and workshops. Stay updated on new multimedia technologies.
Provide clear, friendly software support on Windows and Mac by troubleshooting issues and explaining technology concepts to faculty, staff, and students of all experience levels.
Work closely with fellow consultants to troubleshoot technology challenges and develop creative solutions to technical issues.
Support students in digital media production, including video and audio editing, graphic design, 3D modeling and printing, virtual reality, and large-format printing. Offer instruction and best practices to help them create high-quality multimedia projects.
Keep workstations, printers, and other technology resources operational and report any issues.
Create guides and tutorials, participate in workshops, and assist users in learning new tools.
Requirements:
Work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Attend a one-hour paid training session each week during the semester.
Qualifications:
No prior experience required – only willingness to learn new skills.
Full-time University of Richmond student in good academic standing.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
